India Ranks 71st in WEF Energy Transition Index 2025

India dropped to the 71st position in the 2025 Energy Transition Index. This is a decline from its 63rd rank last year. Sweden ranked first globally.

India has indeed slipped to 71st position in the 2025 Energy Transition Index (ETI), a decline from its 63rd rank last year. The ETI, released by the World Economic Forum (WEF), ranks 118 countries based on their performance in energy security, sustainability, and equity. Sweden topped the list, followed closely by Finland, Denmark, Norway, and Switzerland.

Despite the decline in ranking, India has made notable progress in energy access, clean fuel access, and investment capacity. The US led in energy security, while China ranked 12th overall. The report emphasizes the growing influence of top economies in shaping the global energy transition.
