Kerala becomes the first Indian state to form a senior citizens commission, focusing exclusively on senior citizens’ rights and welfare.

The Kerala State Senior Citizen’s Bill has been passed by the Kerala government, becoming the first Indian state to implement the significant initiative of a senior citizens commission. With this statutory body, the Kerala government is looking forward to protecting the rights and welfare of elderly citizens and ensuring their active participation in society. It acts as an advisory body for state policies concerning the empowerment of senior citizens.
